 Background:

Prior to 1986, the Junior Livestock Auction at the Pima County Fair was conducted by a Livestock Advisory Board which was appointed by the Southwestern Fair Commission. In February, 1986 the Pima County Junior Livestock Sales Committee was incorporated with the intent of promoting and supporting the Livestock and Smallstock Programs of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Service in Pima County. Pima County Junior Livestock Sales, Inc. (PCJLSI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization duly registered under the laws of Arizona.

Conducting the sales of project animals shown by junior exhibitors in the Livestock and Small stock Programs at the Pima County Fair has been the primary emphasis of PCJLSI. Providing scholarships or other financial assistance to young people or organizations who share the goals of this group has also been a major objective. To this end, significant financial support has gone towards purchasing needed equipment and supplies used by the various projects and auctions.  To further assist present or past 4-H and/or FFA members with their continuing education, this scholarship has been established.
